Monitoring the Success of Your Sales Funnel

    By Denise | July 30, 2010

Sales funnel is a common term online. A sales funnel is a string of effective strategies that leads a prospect through a selection of sales opportunities, creating loyalty and the possibility of an upsell. To begin building your sales funnel, you need to turn regular internet goers into hot leads, and this is possible through an effective marketing method.

Some typical sales opportunities used to build many internet marketing sales funnels include special reports, ebooks and autoresponder courses. As you can see, you have a variety of options, so you need to test which ones work.

You have to take note of the advertising options that bring in the traffic. For instance, PPC may only be effective in increasing pageviews but not leads. Or, you notice that social media advertisements result in more sales despite the low number of opt-ins. If you can track which methods convert the most, your marketing strategy can be tweaked further.

Don’t be afraid of experimenting with various alternatives as far as marketing is concerned. Give one strategy a deadline and cut your losses when it’s not performing well. There was a time when banner ads and newsletter advertising were the only way to go. But now that the best advertising alternatives are within our reach budget-wise, it’s easier to test out several options.

    Is Your Bait Effective?

Your front-end offer can also make or break your marketing campaign. You may have an entire funnel designed and the marketing implemented and find that your entry-level product doesn’t sell at all. Maybe your target customers cannot afford your price? Maybe you need to build your credibility more?

Get to know your target market more. The main thing you have to consider is that you may or may not discover your weak or strong points if you don’t track your sales process well.

Even if you see some customers buying your products, your job isn’t done yet. Your previous customers can function as your test groups for back end offers. On this level of your sales funnel, you will start feeling complacent. Don’t.. You may just find another offer that sells much better than the first. You can get your previous customers to fill out surveys. At the very least, you can offer your previous customers a chance to share in the profits by becoming your affiliates.
